The proof that I like orange and yellow :)

Orange Yellow

My friend Magda (we met in Vienna while studying with the same voice teacher at the conservatory there) mentioned me in her blog!
I not only noticed that while delightfully reading her funny posting, but also because suddelny the number of my blog - visitors has at least doubled (as far as the statistics show)!

So I wanted to confirm that yes, apparently it is true... people born around March 30-31 feel strongly attracted to the colors orange and yellow. If there exists a general attraction to giraffes too remains doubtful, because I for example don't feel that way, whereas Peter apparently does.

It would definitely be an intresting field of research for scientists, especially as I haven't ever heard about theories like that before. Yes, I really take that serious! I mean, look at my laundry.... and I didn't even do that on purpose:

Viki + Harp&Horn-Video

Now I've also uploaded another video from my recital - the piece for advanced listeners: Totally unknown - but classical style (conteporary would be even more advanced) -
and "aria" (even though it sounds more like a song) by Spohr, from his opera "Der Erbvertrag", which I doubt to exist. (At least I couldn't find any information about it, neither online nor in the library)
As I found it a bit boring after 2 strophes, I changed the melody a bit in the 3rd one...

My friend Valeska is playing harp by the way, and Tim, who I know from work is the fabulous hornist. (Not Hornisse unfortunately :)

Viki sings Schnulz

Finally I've got the video of my recital!

It's already over 2 months ago now and I have uploaded some pieces of it. Here a little selection. Ms. Patricia Wise was so kind to be the camerawoman and also providing the occasional background laughter.
As I thought this blog should please rather the masses than a tiny amount of music specialists (what means also the "Opera? Not so much..."- people), I've uploaded just the cheesiest and schnulziest pieces:

This is "Meine Lippen, sie küssen so heiß" from Lehàrs last Operetta "Giuditta".
(By the way - my recital was on Good Friday (Karfreitag), so I was REALLY glad, thet most people didn't understand the rather seductive text!)

This is "Wien, Wien nur du allein" (Vienna, Vienna, just you alone)
I have sung as an encore. In Austria I would probably have had concerns about ending my recital in that "Musikantenstadl" (German folk-music.TV show) - way, but here people really seemed to like it!

Jörg Haider in the Subway

Doppelgänger!

This "homeless guy" (poster in the New York Subway) looked strangely familiar to me!

Wait, isn't it Kärnten's Landeshauptmann?
Wusste ja gar nicht vom Doppelleben des werten Herrn!
Maybe he is trying to make his face familiar to people in different countries, no matter in which way...and his real plan is to take over the world!!!?

Animals!!

So many new pictures - in the meantime we are in New York and I was overstrained by the challenge of choosing the coolest pictures for posting here!
So I'm doing themes now:
ANIMALS
that we've encountered while travelling

Shakespeare, Jay's roommate's massive cat in New York. (Jay was our host there for the 1st night)

the other cat, even more massive... but I've proofed it... it is not fat, has just a lot of fur. (2 days later it got shaved by the way...a "lion cut" - too bad I couldn't see it any more)

a little snack while visiting Alize in San Diego

Jays other cat - joined us while we were sleeping

Henry, cuuuute baby cat, playing with the string of my camera while I'm taking the picture :)

film studios en masse

In the meantime, since yesterday, we're already in San Diego, but here are some more LA pictures! Michi and I were having 9 great days there!!
a typical American car. LOL.

Michi and I with Davide (quote: "All Maroccans are dickheads."), the Italian roommate of our second couchsurfing host. (John) Both very nice guys. (This should not be a contradiction)

Another quiz of the day: What is that? A 3D-picture?
The answer: film reels. But where? On the walls and ceilings of the Subway-station "Hollywood/Vine" Alles tapeziert mit tausenden dieser Rollen, unglaublich!

Finally we've found it! The Paramount Studios! Michi's official screening shot :D

Viki on her way to work!

Michi in front of the original Charlie Chaplin (now Jim Henson) studios!

Downtown LA: The Walt Disney Concert Hall

After a visit to "Little Tokyo" ... the modest "Skyline" of the downtown (more a ghost city as everything is so decentralized) in the background.

HOLLYWOOD

Yes, we finally made it to HOLLYWOOD! And we have tons of new pictures... here some of them. The one above is already one of my favourites.... LOL!

In front of the Grauman's Chinese theater looking at famous hand- and footprints!

And walking on the walk of fame!

Jack Lemmon's hand was not bigger than MINE!

I just LOVE wigs. It's just thanks to Michi, that I didn't buy any or anything else of that crazy costume stuff that was sold everywhere--- because he just didn't let me go into any pf those shops! Hrmpf!

Now it's Michi's shooting! Or better: his favourite shots and spots!

He was very excited about this star :)

And also about that.

That's very classic :) And classy :D

And there are also a lot of funny or "typical" signs... this one was in front of the Broxton Garage, the parking for the Mann's Village Cinema in Westwood, where many movie premieres take place:

And - for the 1st time since Christmas in Vienna I used a subway. The station greetet us with this friendly sign:

We had fun anyway!
